NSW Treasury Corporation, the state’s largest fiduciary investor, has been building out its investment and management team for the past two years, since David Deverall, the chief executive, took over in early 2016. Two more senior hires have been announced.
Debt industry specialist Simon Ling has been appointed to the position of general manager, financial markets and, just prior to that, Sonja Lee has been appointed to the new position of head of marketing.
Ling will be responsible for overseeing financial markets business and collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to manage all debt and financial risk management related activity and ensure delivery of client-centric solutions, Deverall said. Ling was previously managing director and head of debt markets at the Commonwealth Bank.
Sonja Lee has been appointed head of marketing at TCorp, reporting to Katharine Seymour, the general manager of client relationships. Lee is responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise marketing and external communications strategy. This includes increasing brand and client advocacy and driving business strategy.
Lee has previously been a senior consultant at Willis Towers Watson, in the prestigious London-based ‘Thinking Ahead Group’, and before that at in general business management consulting.
She said recently: “A key aspect of my work will be to help educate key stakeholders including clients, prospects, institutional investors, media and the industry that TCorp is a top 10 Australian investment manager with funds in excess of $100 billion and that we are also the central borrowing authority for the state of NSW with a balance sheet in excess of $65 billion.”
