Bill Dwyer, former head of investments at Western Australia’s Government Employees Superannuation Board, has returned to Sydney and taken up a position as senior consultant at JANA Investment Advisers.
Dwyer said that after just over five years with GESB, he wanted to move back to Sydney with his young family. He joined GESB in Perth in 2009 as investment strategist and became the head of the investment team in 2012 after the departure of Sharon Hicks. He was previously head of investments at Non-Government Schools super fund and before that a consultant and researcher at Mercer.
Dwyer said last Friday (October 3) that about 30 per cent of his time at JANA would be spent on research and 70 per cent on working with clients. Most of his research would be in the Australian equities field.
He said that one of the things which attracted him to JANA was the firm’s strong investment beliefs, particularly to do with “fundamental value”. He is a qualified actuary and CFA charter holder.
