Dunbar leaves UBS to set up FinDigital

Ian Dunbar, the former head of investment platforms in the Platform Solutions Group at UBS, who left the firm last month, has started his own specialist consulting firm, FinDigital.

Dunbar will be focusing on advice relating to disruption in the financial services sector from technological and other changes. He is chairing a session on this topic at next month’s My Platform Rules conference on the Gold Coast.  See agenda here:

  • He says: “Digital disruption refers to changes enabled by digital technologies that occur at a pace and magnitude that disrupt established ways of value creation, social interactions, doing business and more generally our thinking. Digital disruption can be seen as both a threat and an opportunity.”

FinDigital is offering bespoke and independent corporate development, consulting and advisory services for both developed and start-up business and funds management firms, including private equity and venture firms.

Dunbar was at UBS for just over seven years. He set up the investment platforms business and Direct-to-Member platform in late 2011, which famously had AustralianSuper as an early adopting client. Before that he was head of execution and clearing services for UBS in Australia and New Zealand and before that was a vice president and operations manager at JP Morgan Chase in Hong Kong.
